AUTONOMY FOR THE CONTESTED BATTLEFIELD
Resilient off-road mobility for defense ground vehicles. Built for CASEVAC, forward logistics, and missions where GNSS, maps, and communications fail.
Combat moves where infrastructure cannot. Eira Systems builds resilient autonomy for ground vehicles operating beyond roads, beyond maps, beyond GNSS — reducing personnel exposure and increasing the reliability of frontline logistics and casualty evacuation.

EIRA X
Full-scale autonomous UGV demonstrator
Eira X is the proving ground for our autonomy and mobility stack. A modular, electric, vision-only UGV designed for rapid field experimentation. Operationally demonstrated with the Swedish Armed Forces and ready for OEM and prime integration.
Three problems. One stack.
Terrain understanding
Off-road terrain is unmapped, deceptive, and deformable. Eira's perception stack models traction, slope, and stability — not just obstacles — so vehicles move where conventional autonomy fails.

Resilient navigation
GNSS, maps, and communications are unreliable in contested environments. Our navigation stack operates under degraded sensing — vision-only SLAM, terrain-aware planning, graceful degradation when global route planning breaks down.

Human-in-the-loop autonomy
Fully autonomous behavior is not trusted in combat. Eira's operator station and mission simulator make autonomy transparent — operators see system confidence, intervene when needed, and rehearse missions before they happen.
Resupply & evacuation mission
Mission Planning
- Operator plans route in simulator (high-risk / high-value mission)
- Terrain & risk assessment, mission rehearsal in mapped data
Deployment
- UGV deployed from safe logistics node
- Human-supervised autonomy, silent low-signature movement
Autonomous Navigation
- GNSS-degraded environment
- Terrain-aware navigation with remote supervision and operator intervention available
Delivery / Extraction
- Deliver fuel, ammunition, medical supplies
- Or evacuate wounded personnel
Mission Evaluation
- Compare simulator vs real mission
- Evaluate operator workload, autonomy performance
- Update mapping data for future missions
Building autonomy in the open
Eira X demonstrator — design, build, and field test, 2025–2026.
Tested with the people who will use it
Eira Systems develops in close collaboration with end users and industry partners. Our demonstrator has been operationally tested with Swedish Armed Forces and industrial primes.
- Vinnova-funded national defense innovation project (EIRA-X)
- Industrial partnership with Volvo Construction Equipment
- Field test at P7 (Södra skånska regementet, Swedish Armed Forces)
- Demonstrator at Amyna Defense Day, Ideon Science Park
- Collaboration with Swedish Defence University, Department of War Studies
- Active research with Chalmers University and Halmstad University

How we build
End users first
Every capability is shaped with the operators who will rely on it — not specified in isolation from the field.
Earn the trust
Autonomy must be transparent. Operators see system confidence, intervene when needed, and stay in command.
Integrate, don't compete
We supply autonomy and mobility infrastructure to European primes and OEMs — built for integration into existing platforms.
A team that has done this before
Eira Systems combines deep entrepreneurial experience with defense industry expertise. Our founder is a Chalmers Professor and INCOSE member since 2011. Our engineering core comes from the Chalmers Formula Student team — winners of Formula Student Driverless 2023 and 2025.
